In 1969, a song was released that has become a quintessential guitar track for countless movies,TV, advertising and is one of the most played oldies on radio to this day. The composer and performer is Malden-born artist, Norman Greenbaum, and the song is Spirit in the Sky. Norman Greenbaum was born in Malden Hospital in 1942. He grew up with his extended family in Suffolk Square on Lisbon Street. He graduated from Malden High School in 1960. Greenbaum now makes his home in Santa Rosa, California.
