Norman Greenbaum ( Born November 20 1942)
Norman Greenbaum is known for his hit single, Spirit in the Sky, which sold over 2 million copies in 1969 – 1970. The song has a Christian theme, but, Norman himself was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household. He said it was inspired from watching Westerns on TV + at the movies.

“When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
